# beehiiv

Add Humblytics to your beehiiv website with Google Tag Manager in about 5 minutes.

**You need:** a free [Google Tag Manager](https://tagmanager.google.com) account. beehiiv doesn't accept custom `<head>` scripts, so Humblytics loads through GTM. Tracking pixels are available on every beehiiv plan.

## 1. Add Humblytics to a GTM container

Set up the Humblytics tag in GTM and publish the container. Follow [Google Tag Manager](/how-to-get-started/google-tag-manager.md) (Option A) up to the **Publish** step.

Copy your container ID from the top of GTM. It looks like `GTM-XXXXXXX`.

## 2. Connect GTM to beehiiv

1. In beehiiv, go to **Website → Builder** and click the **Settings** icon.
2. Choose **Site settings → Tracking pixels**.
3. Paste your GTM container ID into the **Google Tag Manager** field. beehiiv saves it automatically.

If your website has been published before, the pixel goes live on its own. Otherwise, publish your website once.

## 3. Verify

1. Back in Humblytics, click **Verify install**. It can take a few minutes after publishing in GTM.
2. Open your public beehiiv website in a private window (not the beehiiv dashboard) and click around. Your visit appears in **Observe → Analytics → Overview** under **Live Activity** within about a minute.

**Not verifying?**

* Your GTM container is **published**, not just saved.
* The domain in Humblytics matches your beehiiv website domain (custom domain or `yourname.beehiiv.com`).
